Does this sound familiar? At American Alarm & Audio, Inc., we get calls like this often. Follow this list of suggestions and you will be ready for action when that next false alarm occurs:
- Don’t panic. (Take a deep breath if necessary).
- If the activation was accidental, disarm the system by carefully pressing each number of the alarm code. If you are a monitored account, wait for the central station to call YOU in case of a burglar alarm. If you accidently set off either the panic or duress alarm, call the central station as soon as your phone lines are clear.
- Know your central station account #, call our office if you don’t or are not sure of it.
- Don’t leave the premise until you’ve spoken with either the central station or our office at American Alarm.

I get a lot of smoke detector false alarms. What’s wrong?
A recent study found that as many as 90% of false fire alarms could be eliminated by regular cleaning of the smoke detectors that are installed as part of most security systems.
